Reading This Week: Data Management
It's been a busy week, stuffed full of responsibilities that demand attention beyond the normal daily schedule. Despite not writing several intended posts, I was able to get some reading in. In addition to finishing Don't Cosplay With My Heart I was able to squeeze in The Iron Giant. Here are some of the online articles I found interesting this week:
- Pre-Reflections on the April 2018 Oklahoma Teacher Walkout
A teacher/father shares his personal perspective on the issues at hand.
- Interview with Colin Wright
A bullet journal author interviews a minimalist travel writer.
- Flipped Learning and HyperDocs: Reflections from my Classroom
A teacher reflects on how the use of hyperlinks has helped students get more out of each lesson.
- What Churches Can Learn from Facebook Data Controversy
A great reminder that our data is collected in a multitude of ways and that everyone is responsible to use that data ethically.
- Sewing Buttons
Observation from a new blog I'm following on the synthesizing of data access and thoughtful contemplation. The Internet does not have to dumb us down, but we need to actively engage.
- Google Drive is Not Going Away
Explanation of upcoming changes to how Google Drive syncs to your device.
- How to Keep Your Students (and Teachers) Safe on Facebook
Practical steps every school can take to protect the data and privacy of their constituents.
- Future-ready education: The lessons students need to learn aren't taught by textbooks
Great reminder that some of the greatest education we can provide is through engagement.
