Marketing Changes People

I like how this chapter gives a purpose and direction to the concepts of stories, connections and experiences.
"Marketing is our quest to make change on behalf of those we serve, and we do it by understanding the irrational forces that drive us. (20)" These are great skills to develop, even if you are not trying to change the world through your product or service.
  • We tell stories - think about their hopes and dreams. Stories that do not share hopes and dreams are merely the rambling of a madman.
  • We make connections - listen to their frustrations. Connections that ignore frustrations are shallow and meaningless.
  • We create experiences - invest in changing the culture. Experiences that fail to invest in meaningful change are simply entertainment.
